Dear Dogs, Please Don’t Pee Here (and Other Lessons from My Garden)🌿

When we bought our house, the yard came with a large mulched area where a beautiful old Crepe Myrtle tree once stood. Sadly, it had been split in a storm and removed by the previous owners, leaving behind a lonely, empty patch of mulch. For a year, we stared at that bare spot before finally calling our landscaper. Together, we brought new life to the space with another crepe myrtle and five smaller bushes carefully planted around it.

Now, I live in a fabulous neighborhood where folks walk their dogs multiple times a day. It’s one of the things I love most—it keeps the community lively and friendly. But as soon as our little “island” of greenery took root, it became the go-to bathroom stop for four-legged passersby. Before long, some of my favorite bushes were brown and dying.

We replanted, determined not to give up. I even put up a sweet little sign that read: “Dear Dogs, We Love You But Please Do Not Pee Here.” It was polite, neighborly…and wishful thinking. Unfortunately, the dogs didn’t get the memo!

Finally, I ordered this fabulous little fence. (And let me just say—it looks fantastic!) Not only does it add a touch of charm to the landscaping, but it’s been the perfect solution to keeping curious pups at bay. For the first time, our plants are thriving instead of just surviving. That little island of green is finally the vibrant, welcoming spot we envisioned—and all it took was a bit of persistence, a sense of humor, and one very stylish fence.

Sometimes, the smallest fixes make the biggest difference. And in our case, the fence didn’t just protect our plants—it gave us back the joy of watching them truly live!
